The IPAF Demonstrator Course delivers a minimum of 7 hours of both classroom and practical instruction on to correctly carrying out the required tasks involved in the role of Demonstrator which is to familiarise operators with their responsibilities and demonstrate pre-operational and safe operating procedure and the limitations of MEWP's.
All delegates wishing to attend the IPAF Demonstrator training course must have successfully passed the IPAF Operator Course prior to attending and hold a valid IPAF PAL Operator Card in the category that they wish to be trained to demonstrator level. Each delegate who wishes to be considered as a Demonstrator should have a reasonable knowledge of good site safety practice, be confident and a good communicator.
This course consists of an instructor led training room presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment.
This course is aimed at delegates who are or will be responsible for familiarising operators to use any MEWP, for which the demonstrator holds the appropriate licence.
Since the inspection, operation and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights, vertigo, giddiness, difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
If you have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about your fitness to use an MEWP, you must bring them to the attention of your employer. This need not preclude you from using MEWPs, provided your employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties you may have.
The agenda for the IPAF Demonstrator course includes:
- Introduction to IPAF and MEWPs
- Health & Safety legislation & regulations

As of June 2021, all successful delegates are registered through the IPAF Digital Card License Application (ePAL) system, making your IPAF certification accessible via the ePAL app on iOS and Android. This is inclusive within the course price.
